Craig Kessler
With more than 30 years of experience in the golf community longtime Director of Public Affairs at the Southern California Golf Association, Craig Kessler is the California Alliance for Golf's new Executive Director.
At the state and local levels, Craig has been a leading voice for the game of golf, its players, its industry workforce and its future generations. He has led and organized many campaigns that successfully achieved the best possible outcomes for golf. Recently, Craig spearheaded efforts that defeated two versions of a bill that would have closed a number of public golf courses in the state as well as a bill that would have jeopardized the viability of some of California’s most visible coastal golf resorts. He has also played a pivotal role in saving golf holes at various courses throughout the region, most recently in Los Angeles’ Sepulveda Basin.
Prior to his tenure with the SCGA, Craig served for more than a decade as the executive director of the Public Links Golf Association (PLGA), where he pioneered the development of the nation’s most active and accomplished advocacy function.
In addition to his current and previous job responsibilities, Craig served as a USGA Committeemen continuously for 25 years, Chair of the Los Angeles Golf Advisory Commission, Chair of the Los Angeles County Golf Advisory Committee, Member of the City of Los Angeles’ Griffith Park Master Plan Board, Member of the Ventura Golf Advisory Group, and Member of the PGA of America Advocacy Committee. In 2008 Craig was inducted into the Long Beach Golf Hall of Fame.
